She
is the first of four children. Taken
by her mother to Athens, Greece, along with her brothers, to attend school in
1933. Eloped with Panagis M. Lekanidis and married him 1939 or 1940. Spent part of
the occupation on the Island of Andros where Panagis was a teacher, then returned to Athens and
lived with the Emmanuels at Ambelokipi.
Survived the occupation and the 1st phase of the civil war and returned
to Tanganyika with her family in 1946. After a short stay she and her
family returned to Athens where she
currently resides. Eleni was Gregory C. Emmanuel's designated guardian
while he was in boarding school at the Athens College. In July 1998 Eleni traveled to the the ancestral homeland, the
island of Tenedos, with her brother Dimitri.
