Emmanuel : Introduction : Technical Issues

Hardware - Software

This website was created on a Dell Dimension XPS-750r PC with a 21" Dell Trinitron monitor running MS Windows NT 4.0 SP5. It was designed using MS FrontPage 2000 and previewed both in MS Internet Explorer 5.5 and Netscape Communicator 4.76. The images were either scanned (HP ScanJet 5200C and 3500) or captured with a Toshiba PDR-M4 2.1 megapixel digital camera, and then processed with Corel PhotoPaint 9 or MS PhotoDraw 2000. I used Photodex Compupic to organize and index all the site's images. Screen shots were captured with PrintKey 2000 and the family trees were processed using GenoPro Gold. All images on the site are at a resolution of 96 dpi, and most of them are in .jpg format.

Netscape

The combination of English and Greek fonts within the same text was avoided because of the resulting text formatting problems when viewing the site with Netscape. Also, using Netscape's Back button to return to a family tree page after visiting a link, makes that page's hyperlinks disappear...
